GriefShare Spring 2018

January 8th - April 9th, 2018

GriefShare is a 13-week video series featuring Christian experts, and an interactive group sharing time for those who have lost a loved one. At each session, a video is shown concerning an issue related to grief and loss. These videos feature top experts on a wide variety of subjects important to the grief recovery process. After the video, attendees become part of a small support group to discuss what was viewed and what is going on in their own lives.

The group meets in The Cove, 1st room to your left inside the front lobby. Your workbook is included in your fee, and will be waiting for you at your first meeting.

No meeting on Monday, March 12 (Spring Break for Katy ISD).

DivorceCare Spring 2018

January 8th - April 9th, 2018

You don’t have to go through it alone! Most people will tell you that separation and divorce are the most painful and stressful experiences they’ve ever faced. It’s a confusing time when you feel isolated and have lots of questions about issues you’ve never faced before.

DivorceCare groups meet weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Each of the 13 sessions has two distinct elements:

A Seminar with Experts: During the first 30–40 minutes of the meeting, each DivorceCare group watches a video seminar featuring top experts on divorce and recovery subjects. These videos are produced in an interesting-to-watch television magazine format featuring expert interviews, real-life case studies and on-location video.

A Support Group with Focus: After viewing the video, DivorceCare group participants spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week’s video seminar and what is going on in the lives of group members.

The group meets in The Dock, to your left at the back of the lobby. Your workbook is included in your fee, and will be waiting for you at your first meeting.

No meeting on Monday, March 12 (Spring Break for Katy ISD).

We are not able to provide childcare for this event.

Top Golf Men's Event

April 29th, 2018

Men of Current,

You're invited to our Men's Event at Topgolf on Sunday evening, April 29, 5pm-8pm.

What you get for your $50 registration: Almost 3 hours of play time in a casual, team-based format AND dinner! (If you were to go on your own, this would cost double for this amount of time and dinner! We're getting a great deal!)

Why Topgolf?
Whether you're a professional, mediocre, or no good—it doesn't matter—this will be a judgement-free zone. In fact, 80% of the people who come to Topgolf don't even own their own clubs ... it's really just about the fun! We would love for you to come out and fellowship with other men from Current and let loose for a while.

The Cause:
A small portion of your registration will go to help Current students go to summer camp. We will also have a (totally voluntary) silent auction on-site at Topgolf with some really great prize packages. All the proceeds from this auction will going to help students who can't afford to go to camp as well. Feel free to tell your wife, "I actually have to go's for the kids!"

Final thought: So whether you love golf, just enjoy hanging out with the guys, or want to help some kids out, it will be an evening of great fellowship and a lot of laughs.

Junior High Camp 2018

June 3rd - June 7th, 2018

Our Current Jr. High Students are going to camp Cho-Yeh this summer, June 3rd-June 7th. Camp Cho-Yeh is located in Livingston, TX. Animal Planet's show, TreeHouse Maters, made a tree house at Camp Cho-Yeh. This will be our first time going to Cho-Yeh and we are pretty excited! At camp we will be taking our students through the life of David. While David’s story is one of his rule and leadership as king, it is also a story of his heart’s desire to serve the eternal King of his life-God himself. In moments of failure with great sorrow David cast himself on the grace and mercy of God for restoration. As we journey through David’s story, we want to grow in every camper a deep desire to serve the King.

Women's Bible Study Summer 2018

June 5th - June 6th, 2018

$20 - $40

This summer, Current is pleased to offer We Saved You a Seat, a 7 week Bible study by Lisa-Jo Baker for women and for girls entering 6th-12th grade.

Women and Teens: Tuesday Evenings, 6:30-8:00pm
Women Only: Wednesday mornings 9:30-11:00am

In today's busy world, we're wired to appear "fine," warding off authenticity and shielding ourselves from judgment. We hide behind the hum of busyness to escape intimate friendships with the women God has placed in our lives. But we do want a seat at the table. We yearn for authentic relationships and the opportunity to be the opposite of "fine" with people who cheer for us. But comparison, envy, and entitlement often stop us from pulling out a chair at the table. Friendship can be hard, making new friends even harder, and maintaining genuine friendship the hardest of all.

In this 7-session Bible study, Lisa-Jo Baker and friends from (in)courage explore our relationship with Jesus as the ultimate model for authentic friendship. Nothing shapes us like the impact of a friend - it's how Jesus radically and intimately connects with us. So instead of chasing perfection, overcome your fear of being known and find the courage to connect.

Studies begin the week of June 5th. $25 registration fee includes materials.

Childcare is available for children 10 and under. DEADLINE TO REGISTER FOR CHILDCARE is WEDNESDAY, May 23rd. $15 one-time fee per family.
